You can now enjoy controlling your NVIDIA Shield TV via Google Home, just like this Redditor who says the above workaround fixed the bug for them. Tap each device and unlink them from your account. Tap the Settings icon in the top right corner to continue. On the other hand, the older Shield TVs from 2015 and 2017 are no slouch either. NVIDIA has consistently kept them in the best shape possible through regular software updates, but of course, it always feels nice to have new stuff around you, especially a new Shield remote. Google Home can now control your NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV
For the longest time, the NVIDIA SHIELD TV didn't work well with Google Home.
I had to turn off Ethernet and switch to wifi before it would show up on the main screen with all the other home devices I have set up. The shield then shows up at the very bottom of the list. It also wouldn't let me move it to a room or enable voice control until I updated the built in chromecast. It never shows up in the "add" list if you press the plus at the top so don't bother trying that.
But before you make any decisions, remember that you’re not always going to be guaranteed the greatest picture quality. For a device like the Shield, the flawless quality is really what makes it shine. Suffice to say, connecting the Shield to something that won’t support its natural resolution will produce less than optimal performance. NVIDIA has long been known for its graphics. While the introduction of a streaming box wasn’t the most expected move from the company, it was a welcomed one. Plenty of people are opting for the shield over other popular devices, like Apple TV. So what do you need to know about the Shield and if it’s compatible with your TV?
These new features are rolling out to SHIELD users this month. They also say you can restart your device to receive the update within a day. The NVIDIA Shield is a wonderful streaming box that can support crazy high-quality resolution and audio standards. While there are obvious preferred TV choices for using this tech, the Shield will work with almost any standard television with an HDMI input. If HDMI is not available on your TV, you can of course get a dongle to connect to the Shield, but this probably isn’t the best way to get the most out of this device. As long as you’ve got an HDMI connection, you should be more than ready to get connected to the Shield.
